It’s Cold Out…
Hey –
Great week.
You all (possibly the stateliest activists for Denver art) rolled up your sleeves and gave hope to a great group of people.
And we’re not done yet.
Right now I’m in the waiting room of Hope Program in Capitol Hill. In fifteen minutes the Denver Art Society is hosting a communications workshop here. The Hope Program provides the resources for homeless HIV survivors to secure food, shelter, and job security.
“Oh they have stories,” I am assured, “Honest. The canvases will paint themselves.”
Still, I’m nervous.
Here’s last night’s batch of the DHAE canvases… we call them The Contenders:

Last night we hosted an art workshop for homeless children at the Sacred Heart House in Five Points. Thanks to your hard work all of the kids can proudly show their art on the ArtWalk next Friday.
But we shelters are still calling with requests for art supplies. We can help these energetic, creative individuals but we still don’t have the resources we need to give these homeless individuals this opportunity.
100% of donations collected in the next two days go directly to giving canvases to homeless artists.

We have the momentum, we have the people, we just need the support to fulfill these requests.
I’m truly excited to hear the stories of the people at Hope Program, the Sacred Heart House, the Samaritan House, the Presbyterian Homeless Assistsance Shelter, the Denver Rescue Mission, the Delores Project, and those individuals living on the street with no shelter to call their own.
I’ve been unexpectedly inspired by what I’ve seen so far. I look forward to sharing all their art with you next Friday.
We’re back to work – wish us luck!
